Where can I find answers to questions about discipline-scoped searching?

To provide more information about Disciplines in the Summon Index, we have compiled the following frequently asked questions and answers about Discipline-scoped searching.
While Summon 2.0 provides the Discipline facet, the legacy Summon interface does not. In legacy Summon, discipline-scoped searching is only available in search boxes and search widgets.

What Disciplines are mapped initially?
We assign content to 59 Disciplines. If there are additional disciplines based on the HILCC standard that you want to see used in the Summon Index, please let us know by using the Support Portal option feature located near the top of this page.
Will new content be assigned a Discipline when it gets indexed?
Yes, new content will be assigned to a Discipline when it is indexed, as long as there is an existing Discipline match.
How do we give patrons the opportunity to search with Disciplines?
Using the Search Widget Builder, you can create your custom Discipline-scoped search boxes or widgets and place them on any web environment.
Is a Discipline-scoped search "sticky" or persistent?
Yes, a Discipline-scoped search is persistent, or "sticky." Throughout a user's search session, the "Keep Search Refinements" radio button is selected by default. Disciplines will display as a contextual facet on the search results page for a patron starting from a Discipline-scoped search box or search widget.
