    Question

    We are suddenly seeing the following errors when attempting to do a search in the Cataloging client, or access the Cataloging client preferences.  How do we fix this?

    Run-time error '380': Invalid property value

    or

    Run-time error -2147418105 (8001007): Automation error

    or:

    Automation error The callee (server [not server application])
    is not available and disappeared;
    all connections are invalid. The call may have executed

    Answer

    This issue has been reported when there has been a recent Windows update.

    Try rebooting the workstation to make sure the Windows update is fully installed, and test client access again.

    Additional Information

    This error has been reported with the Cataloging client and the Acquisitions client. It may occur with other clients.

    There is some evidence this error can occasionally be due to network (connectivity) issues between the PC and the server.
