When adding barcode to item record in Acquisitions, get "This record has been modified. Close it anyway?" Is there a way to prevent this?

Answer

If your barcode scanner sends a carriage return at the end of the barcode, after the barcode is written to the barcode field, the carriage return will activate the Close button & you'll be prompted to choose whether to close the record without saving or not.

If your barcode scanner can send the barcode without the carriage return, that will resolve the issue. Otherwise, choose No and then save and close the record.
