How to find out whether Z3950 server of Voyager database instance is running?

How to find out whether z39.50 server of xxxdb is running (where xxxdb is the Voyager Database Instance)?

    1. SSH to server as root or voyager
    2. Run the command: ps -ef | grep 3950 | grep xxxdb
    3. See the output similar to the following:

    voyager 6398 1 0 04:28 ? 00:00:00 /m1/voyager/bin/2009.1.0/z3950svr -i /m1/voyager/xxxdb/ini/z3950svr.ini -c /m1/voyager/xxxdb/ini/voyager.ini

    1. If there is no output, it means that there is no z39.50 server running for this xxxdb.

Third-party testing tools (such as Yaz client, Yaz Self-Validation App, the MarcEdit Z39.50 Client, etc) can also be used to test if the z39.50 server is running if you know your server's required parameters.
