    Question

Should the MARC 856 field go into the BIB record or the MFHD (holdings) record in Voyager?

    Answer

This choice should be based on the Best Practices of the Library.

To help you decide, check with any shared cataloging projects your Library may participate in, especially for electronic records.

You might want to ask your colleagues what they do on the Voyager Customer Listserv.

Also, it may be worth consulting the Library of Congress standards (scroll down to the “Field 856 in bibliographic or holdings records” section): https://www.loc.gov/marc/856guide.html#gen_info
