Description:
Types of Voyager regens
Resolution:
Keyword regens can be run by customers or Support; other regens including a "full regen" of all indexes, are almost always run by Support. A "full" regen is done automatically when you upgrade your server, and is sometimes required after massive data changes such as authority control work or significant database cleanup. A "headings" regen is usually required when you are unable to search headings in the OPAC and cataloging, or if staff can't update authority or bib records.
KEYWORD
Standard bibliographic keyword regen. Takes all keywords, sorts them, and indexes them into the .dc files in /m1/voyager/xxxdb/data/.
Creates an empty dynamic.dc file for keywords cataloged between regens. Solves many problems with keysvr.
HEADINGS
Indexes the following tables
bib_heading
auth_heading
subdivision
bib_subdivision
auth_subdivision
heading_subdivision
Must run STATSAMPLER in conjunction with a HEADINGS regen (i.e., HEADINGS and STATSAMPLER set to "Y").
Symptoms indicating the need for a HEADINGS plus STATSAMPLER regen:
- Unable to update bib and authority records in any client
- Unable to search headings in OPAC and Cataloging (may still work but will be too slow to be useful)
- Able to circulate items in Circulation
- Able to do other searches in OPAC and Cataloging
MFHDINDEX
This is the left-anchored call number regen. Indexes the call number in mfhd_master.
MFHDPREFIXSUFFIX
Indexes the mfhd_master. If set to Y, will index the mfhd prefix/suffice in the call number.
MFHDKEYWORD
Same process as KEYWORD for keywords in MFHDs (holdings records). Alters files in /m1/voyager/xxxdb/mfhd.data/.
TURBOBIBTEXT
Third of the 3 standard elements of a bibliographic keyword regen. Builds the Turbo Bib Text (.tbt) files that
contain the indexed text of bibliographic records for display.
It often fixes display problems on the titles or headings list, such as blank lines or the count says there are 4 bibs but there are really 3.
BIBTEXTTABLE
Indexes the BIB_TEXT table.
BIBLEFTANCHORED
Indexes bib_index table.
AUTHLEFTANCHORED
Indexes the auth_index table.
BIB856LINKS
Indexes the elink_index where record_type=B.
AUTH856LINKS
Indexes the elink_index where record_type=A..
MFHD856LINKS
Indexes the elink_index where record_type=M.
STATSAMPLER
Touches the browse_stats table. Must run in conjunction with headings regen.
GEOSPATIAL
Indexes the GEO_COORD_TYPE table. Must have add-on Geospatial product for this data to be populated.
BIBMEDIUM
Indexes the BIB_MEDIUM table which indexes the 007 of the bib record.
