    Question

    What is Citation Server?

    Answer

Citation Server is a Voyager extension module that allows a library to connect to local or Z39.50 citation databases utilizing the Hook to Holdings feature. Hook to Holdings will display holdings information from the local catalog.

For example, you can set it so that the ISSN in your local records (stored in the 022A) "hook" to the ISSN stored in the remote citation database (e.g. stored in the 773X).

Library patrons can search the citation database for journal articles and see that you own the journal in the local collection, and if available in the citation record, link to full text of the article.
