    Question

Why are we seeing a lag time of 12 to 24 hours before Item Available Notices go out for items on the hold shelf?

    Answer

Item Available Notices aren't immediately sent when an item is discharged to the hold shelf; a notice is only sent once the following events occur:

    1) Discharge item to hold shelf (item status changes to On Hold)
    2) Run Circjob 12 (entry for Item Available Notice writes to crcnotes.ProcessingLocation.inp file in /m1/voyager/yyydb/rpt)
    3) Run Reporter for Circ Notices at the location specified in the ProcessingLocation noted in the .inp file (email notices are sent)
