ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global - How to activate it?

    • Product: Alma

    Question

How to activate "ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global"? In the Community Zone there are no portfolios available for this Electronic Collection.

    Answer

In CDI, it is possible now to activate the Electronic Collection called "ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global", CZ ID 613170000000000058, DBID G20. Other Dissertation Collections may be available. These use a Link-in-Record type of linking.

To include the CDI Collection in the Primo Filtered Search and enable delivery of dissertation full-text:

    1. Activate the Electronic Collection from the Community Zone
      • Ensure that the Electronic Collection has an unsuppressed bib and "title level" (Electronic Collection level) URL
    2. Edit the CDI tab and select: "CDI-only full text activation".

For OpenURLs which are generated from third-party, external databases, a GES (General Electronic Services) URL can be configured.

    1. Go to: Configuration > Fulfillment > Discovery Interface Display Logic > General Electronic Service > Activate or create GES: "ProQuest Dissertations
    2. Service Availability Rules" will rely on the rft.genre
    3. This Template is suggested:

    http://gateway.proquest.com/openurl?res_dat=xri%3Apqm&title={rft.title}&isbn={rft.isbn}&rft_val_fmt=info%3Aofi%2Ffmt%3Akev%3Amtx%3Adissertation&url_ver=Z39.88-2004&genre=dissertation

Several libraries have also added the Proxy into the Template, here it is where the Proxy Library is masked:

    http://library.ABC.edu/ASP/IPCheck.aspx?URL=http://gateway.proquest.com/openurl?res_dat=xri%3Apqm&title={rft.title}&isbn={rft.isbn}&rft_val_fmt=info%3Aofi%2Ffmt%3Akev%3Amtx%3Adissertation&url_ver=Z39.88-2004&genre=dissertation

Per your tests, you may wish to include the Account ID, given by ProQuest.
