    Description:
We installed the Service Pack Aleph 20.2.4 on our Production server this morning. Circ staff are reporting that when they try to renew items in the GUI, they get an error message stating: "item not on loan:"

    Resolution:
This problem with renewal is happening because the abc50 tab100 has:

    RETURN-DURING-LOAN=2

! 2 = when an item is being loaned, and the system
! detects that the item is currently on loan, the
! item is automatically returned and a cash transaction
! is created if the item was returned late.

After correcting this to a different value you will need to restart the pc_server to make the change take effect.

Note: This site has had this parameter/value for many years.... It may be that there has been a change so that this parameter -- which has been in tab100 since at least v17 -- has just now been put into effect.
