    Specifying the recall method

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23

    Description:
How do I specify the recall method?

    Resolution:
A switch in tab100, RECALL-METHOD, controls the setup for the recall method based on the use of the z36-original-due-date field.

TAB100 RECALL-METHOD has three possible values:

1: Lets renewals update the z36_due_date and, if the recall-due-date is earlier, lets recalls update it. Uses the z36_original_due_date as the "due-date-before-recall" (that is, let renewals update it.) The effective due date is always the z36_due_date.**

2: Lets renewals update the z36_due_date. Does not actually update the z36_due_date to the recall-due-date. Leaves the z36_original_due_date as the actual, original due date (does not let renewals update it). The effective due date is the earlier of Z36-RECALL-DUE-DATE and Z36-DUE-DATE when Z36-RECALL-DATE is not 0 (recalled) or just Z36-DUE-DATE otherwise.

3: Same as 2, except it always uses the recall-due-date as the due-date - even if it is a later date.

** As described in the document attached to KB 8192-7815, we do not recommend this Method #1 because it lets renewals change the actual original due date. But note that changing from Method #1 to Method #2 requires special SQL -- as described in the article " Due dates for recalled items incorrect or display incorrectly; due_date_format 4 " (KB 8192-7815) attachment.
