Question

How do I prevent items that have been received in ILLiad from sending a hold shelf notification right away?

Answer

When configured the ILLiad partner, you can set up the desk at which the item will be considered as having been received. In the below example, an item that is received at ILLiad will be considered as having been received at the Resource Sharing Desk of the resource sharing library.

If the requested pickup location is not the resource sharing library, the receive action in ILLiad will not consider the item as on hold shelf, and will not send a hold shelf notification to the patron. Rather, the item will be considered as in transit to the pickup location. The hold shelf message will be sent only when the item arrives at the requested pickup location.

Likewise, if the configured Receive Desk does not have a hold shelf, the item will be put in transit to a desk that does have a hold shelf, even if the pickup location is the Resource Sharing Library.

It is therefore suggested to set the ‘Receive Desk’ to a desk that does not have a configured hold shelf. The result will be that every received item will be put in transit to a hold shelf desk or to another library (depending on the pickup location). The hold shelf notice will therefore be sent only when the item arrives and is scanned in at the required pickup location’s hold shelf.
