    Question

How can additional bibliographic and holding MARC21 fields be added to Alma Analytics?

    Answer

Up to 30 bibliographic fields can be reported in Alma Analytics under Bibliographic Details as 'Local Param' fields from 1 to 30.

Additionally, up to 30 Holding fields can be added to the Holding Details dimension of the Physical Items subject area as Holding Local Parameters (1-30)

    • To implement this feature, contact Alma Support. Analytics will be refreshed in the next extract (expected to run on a nightly basis).
    • MARC21 fields greater than or equal to 010 can be mapped.
    • New from February 2026:  It is possible to define and select specific subfields for export, rather than including all subfields by default.
    • Any change and reindexing applies only to bib and holding records that are "In Repository".  If any records already exist in Analytics (Lifecycle = Deleted), these are not impacted.

    Note also this:

    • Subfield delimiters can be maintained in the Analytics fields identified for Local Param. When implemented, fields/subfields have the Alma subfield delimiter (either $$ or ‡). Contact Support to enable this feature (this includes a reindexing job). The feature applies to all Local Param fields, but not any other out-of-the-box fields. As mentioned above, any change and reindexing applies only to bib and holding records that are "In Repository". If any records already exist in Analytics (Lifecycle = Deleted), these are not impacted.

Regarding Institutions participating in a Network Zone

    • New for the February 2026 Release: If you are a Network Zone Administrator, you can add these local parameters via the Support Services Page (see Support Services).
    • If there are multiple Local Parameters set for different Institution Zones within a Network Zone, which parameters will be displayed in the Network Zone?
      • Network environments have their own local parameters, the same as any other institution, but Networks can also see the IZ local params in addition to their own.
      • For example:
        • IZ #1: Local Parameter 01 = 901
        • IZ #2: Local Parameter 01= 999
        • NZ : Local Parameter 01 = 953
      • To see local parameters for IZ members or for the NZ environment, add the “institution code” field and filter it on the institution of your choosing. The report will have the Network Zone Label, but the data will be from the IZ’s local parameter.

    Additional Information

    Find more in the documentation:

    • “Local Param 1-30” are reported in the Analytics "Bibliographic Details" shared dimension.
    • “Holding Local Param (1-30)” are reported in the Analytics "Holdings Details" shared dimension.
