Add set for Items not working

Question

We have the problem, that one of our colleagues cannot add a set of physical items using a list of barcodes. The procedure is always the same:
We save a list of barcodes as txt-file. Then in Manage sets we go to Add set and then choose Physical items - clicking on the folder we look up for our barcode.txt and the upload this.
But where does this strange error "All items in the file failed the validation" come from?

According to the Online Help, the barcodes cannot be uploaded as txt file but only as Excel file:

NOTE: Files to be uploaded should be in Excel format (.xls), contain a single column with the barcode of each item to be included in the set, and should be formatted as text.

Please put the barcodes in an Excel file and try again.
