Browse shelf listing ends with wrong result

    • Product: Alma

    Description

Browse shelf listing does not return the expected number of results when searching for "Call number type = Other scheme". Too few results are retrieved.

    Resolution

The Browse Shelf Listing functionality searches the call number in the 852 field of the holdings record, based on the call number type specified in the first indicator. When searching for "Call number type = Other scheme" in Browse Shelf Listing, the system searches only for call numbers where the 852 field has a first indicator "8".

In order to retrieve records in Browse Shelf Listing, a specific call number type has to be added. It's not possible to use this functionality for records without call number type.

    Additional Information

You can use a normalization rule to add this indicator. If you write such a rule, you can create a process for it and run it on a set of records. For more information on normalization rules, see this helpful Online Help page and the example document attached to it: http://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/Alma_Online_Help_%28English%29/Resource_Management/040Metadata_Management/070Working_with_Normalization_Rules
