EDI Invoice Import fails with error java.lang.NullPointerException

Problem Symptoms:
Loading EDI Invoices fails with error:
"General error while running edi invoice job java.lang.NullPointerException"
Cause:
FTP server was set to ASCII instead of Binary
Resolution:
Set the FTP server mode to Binary, or load the file as Binary
Additional Information
Once the mode is set to Binary, in some cases switching the FTP back to ASCII did not adversely affect the next files from loading.
