    External Resource addition to the Alma Metadata Editor (MDE)

    Question

    How to add an External Search Resource to the Metadata Editor list of Search Profiles?

    Answer

    The steps are as follows:

    1. Go to: Configuration > Resources > Search Configuration > External Search Resources
      1. Click to "Add External Resource", or verify that the needed Resource was already added to that page
      2. Detailed information on the resource configuration (such as Normalization Process, Merge Method, and Credentials) is found in the Online Help, please see a link below
    2. Go to: Configuration > Resources > Search Configuration > Search Profile
      1. Click to "Add Search Profile", or - edit one of the existing Profiles, if you wish the search to run simultaneously on multiple External Resources)
      2. When adding a new resource - give it a name, and description. On the next page, find the needed resource at the bottom of the page, section "External Resources Pool". Select it and click "Add to Selection".
      3. Again, further details are in the Online Help page, referred to below.
      4. Click "Save" and you are ready to use the new Profile and Resource, in the Metadata Editor.
