    Question

Why is the 'BibGenerateControlNumberSequence' task not working in Copy Cataloging = when importing a record from an external source?

    Answer

Import from an external source is creating a draft, only after actively saving the record, it becomes a repository record.

The task for Generate Control Number is not applied on draft records.
The logic behind this is, that you might not want to keep the record you selected for the import from the external source, as you selected the wrong one, for example.

Therefore, the 'BibGenerateControlNumberSequence' task should be included in the Normalize on Save process.
