Available Features, Functionality and Release Plan for NDE UI

Monthly Release Plan

The release plan includes additional functionalities for the last half of this year, including new features (marked as New), delivery of existing Primo VE functionalities, and cross-product integrations (such as Leganto, Rapido, and so forth).

The scheduled release is subject to change based on the stability of the feature.

Monthly Release Plan (Consortia-Related)

With the General Release, any consortium member can start testing the NDE UI like any other institution. Members will see the following elements of search scopes: consortia and cross-institution search scopes, CDI, local data and external sources. In addition, they will see cross-institution facets.

Below is a breakdown of features available after the General Release, according to the monthly release schedule.

Accessibility Plan

In parallel with ongoing compliance work for the existing Primo VE UI and its accessibility roadmap, two rounds of audits based on WCAG 2.2 criteria are planned for the NDE UI in 2025 to ensure accessibility at A and AA levels.

The first round will begin in March and focus on auditing the NDE UI pages that will be available for general availability in May. Based on this audit, we will publish an initial VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) by the end of May, along with a resolution plan for any issues identified.

The second round will take place in Q3 2025 to assess all resolved issues from the first audit and evaluate additional pages developed post-general availability.

Coming in March 2025 - New Features

The following features and functionality are planned for March 2025.

Display Locations for Related Titles
Display Public Access Model in the View Online
When accessing a deep link to a signed-in-required page, such as User Area > My Requests, a redesigned sign-in page appears.
The enhanced search in Collection Discovery now supports searching across all collections and within sub-collections. It is available in March and is currently being tested and quality-reviewed.
The User Area Menu will be configurable on the new User Area Links page (Configuration > Discovery > Library card configurations > User area links).
Support Service Page in the NDE UI.
Branding NDE UI color Theme - You can customize the NDE UI color theme by selecting one of the predefined color themes available in the Manage Customization Package. Simply click on a color theme to update the primary color of the NDE UI, then click Save to apply your changes.

The Library Search button in the Main Menu now directs you to the NDE landing page at /nde/home.
The Go Live step of the Go NDE transition process will include a "Switch to Live" option for NDE Views.

The "Switch to Live" option is a one-time feature designed to redirect traffic from your existing Primo VE live view to your NDE

view when you Go Live. Please do not use this option until your official Go-Live day.

Coming in March 2025 - Resolved Issues

The following issues are planned to be resolved in March 2025.

Hypertext linking - support the use_facet_in_creator_hyperlink parameter.
Support HTML tags in the form field labels.
Fix the Patron group field in Personal Details.
Fix the Update login credentials button under Personal Settings.
In the Resource Sharing Request form, the corrupted double apostrophes in the Copyright field have been fixed.
The Filters side panel is cut when the selected facets exceed the facet panel width. This was fixed.
In Advanced Search, the operator options align correctly even when the search index is displayed but not actively selected.
Fix Display issues in Request forms’ confirmation message.
Fix the display of the "View all requests" link under the requests section.
Fix the display of the Web of Science indication.
An automatic search should be triggered whenever a search term exists and the scope changes.
Digitization request labels for Start page and End page and Journal volume and issue.
Update the Syndetics thumbnail template to use lc.jpg instead of sc.jpg for improved thumbnail resolution.
Resolved labeling issues for Start Page, End Page, Journal, Volume, and Issue on the Digitization Request form.
The number next to the thumbnail now properly aligns and no longer overlaps the thumbnail.
An error message is now displayed for incorrect credentials during internal login.
The "Sign in" message now correctly appears in the requests section of the FRBR versions list.

Coming in April 2025 - New Features

The following features and functionality are planned for April 2025.

Email Action – Support emailing a single record using your default email client. When sending an email, it will open directly in your default email application.
Item-Level Requests – Support item-level requests in the Locations section.
Digital Availability – Now displayed in a dedicated Digital Services section in the Full Record (Phase 1, until the new Digital Viewer is released.

To support the Digital Viewer in the current mode until the new viewer becomes available in November, you should define the view it will use to open the digital viewer. For this purpose, you must use a view from the current UI (not the NDE view) as the viewer. This setting should be configured with the

view_for_digital_viewer parameter on the Discovery Customer Settings page (Configuration > Discovery > Other > Customer Settings). The View should be defined with the view code; for example, - For INST:View, you should define: View.

Coming in April 2025 - Resolved Issues

The following issues are planned to be resolved in April 2025.

Collection Discovery	Navigating back from the full display from the Collection's search results shows an infinite loading state. 'View the collection' from the main search navigates to the Collection Discovery page with the query. Searches performed within a top-level collection do not return results, while the exact search within a sub-collection retrieves relevant results.
Record Actions	After clicking the Print action and closing the print window, the print window unexpectedly reopens when interacting with any other element on the page. The label for the close button was missing for all actions. Export to Excel - the popup doesn't close after clicking on download - should be resolved in June
Requests Form	Blank ILL form - Choosing Citation Type 'Article' does not change 'Format' to 'Digital' Resource Sharing Request appears for a guest and should display for signed-in users only. In Resource Sharing requests, changing the pickup institution does not update the list of libraries to reflect the selected institution. Issues with Item Availability in Resource Sharing Request and Blank ILL forms. Blank ILL - Some fields remain filled out when moving from Article to Book request type. Blank ILL - issues with the Autofill option. In Resource Sharing requests, when only one location is available, the "Look up or select location" option should be removed.
Facets	In deep link, Facet is marked as Exclude instead of Include and no facet display in the UI. The Apply Filters and Clear All buttons in the filters menu should appear only after selecting a filter value. Filtering by any facet doesn't mark this facet as selected. Multiple selection of facets removes previous filtering selection. Missing Course Facet.
Search History	In Search History, removing the last search entry when not on the first page results in an improperly displayed page. In Search History, long search entries should be truncated with an ellipsis (…) for proper display. The last searches are not clickable links as expected.
UI Issues	The tooltip style when hovering over the title is inconsistent with the rest of the system Availability label "Check holdings at" appears with the parameter code instead of value The main menu panel remains open after clicking "More" and then selecting another button The main menu is not displaying all items as expected, based on the space calculation Did you mean - unexpected brackets The "Allow saving my search history" toggle in Personal Settings does not retain its activation state in the UI. After refreshing Full Display, some sections fail to display correctly

Search Bar	The X button in the search bar is not working - this is fixed now
Collection Discovery	The icons for favorites and description in RTL are not in the right place - this is fixed now After clicking on a collection, the page should be focused on the top of the page opened
Resource Sharing Form	Blank resource sharing form - restricted users page display
Search Scopes	Changing language does not change the translated tab and scopes Sites using two levels of scopes experience UI issues with scopes drop downs in the landing page and in Advanced Search

List of Known Issues

Landing Page	When using the Duplicate View for NDE option, existing Primo VE customizations are copied over, displaying the old Landing Page instead of the new Landing Page. Once available, this can be fixed manually by uploading a new NDE customization package.
Brief Results	Number of results per page label – the size of the label will be increased Selection of FRBR record for bulk actions is currently not possible - will be changed Export to Mendeley doesn't work
UI Issues	Broken Elements such as Toggle and buttons display , title links are planned to be resolved in April and May
Full Record Display	Links under "View Online" section don't look linkable and don't have indication for external link - this should be solved in June. locations are not loaded for CDI records - this is solved in June.
Filters	The excluded quick filters have no indication – this fix is planned for June.
Duplicate view to NDE	Duplicate for NDE view doesn't copy the Logo URL - should be fixed in August
Rapido	Issues with the Pickup anywhere dropdown in request tile Rapido request tiles are displayed only after refresh in some cases - this is solved in June
