    • Product: Voyager
    • Product Version: 8.2.2

    Question

Why does AutoUpdate not increment the version information found in Windows' Programs and Features display?

    Answer

    • AutoUpdate copies updated client files to the client machine. AutoUpdate does not actually install any new programs.
    • Software version information found in Control Panel > Programs and Features, is set during the software installation process.
    • If having up to date version information in Windows is required, the updated Voyager client must be installed using the Voyager Installer.

With increased security of Windows systems, AutoUpdate has become increasingly problematic to implement and support. In some environments it no longer works.  Support recommends you consider different options/methods for installing new clients.
