GDC:Duplicate same Marc Tag to new tag does not work
- Article Type: General
- Product: Voyager
- Product Version: 8.0.0
Problem Symptoms
If you want to copy the same tag to a new tag, instead of copying the tag into a separate tag, GDC creates 2 subfields in one tag.
Defect Status
Issue 16384-17297 is resolved for Voyager 8.2.1 and higher.

- Add the Change Rule Set to a Change Rule Set Group.
- Submit a preview for this set on a bibliographic record that contains a 035a.
- Look at the Preview records. Notice that the changed records have one 035 with two subfield a tags.
This does work properly if you are copying data to a different tag (e.g. copy from 035a to 650a).
This issue also affects the creation of new fields with identical tags & indicators to an existing field.
Workaround
Execute two data changes.
- The first to copy 035a to a new field/subfield (i.e., 935a).
- Then a second to copy 935a to a new 035a.
