    Port forwarding using Voyager plink.exe

    • Product: Voyager
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Multi-Tenant Direct, Dedicated-Direct, Local, TotalCare

    Question

    What is plink.exe?

    Answer

Using plink.exe is a different way to do port forwarding (sometimes called "port mapping" or "tunneling"), as opposed to using the more commonly implemented SSH Tunneling.

Port forwarding can be a useful way of diagnosing network issues when there are frequent connection drops.  It can also be implemented by customers to facilitate more seamless connectivity if connection problems are an issue.

Using plink.exe involves installing plink.exe on your desktop, and then creating a .bat file that is run to set up the ports being accessed.

Support recommends using SSH Tunneling instead of plink.exe if possible, but if you're interested in learning more about plink.exe, please open a ticket with Voyager Support.

    Additional Information

plink.exe was developed in-house by Ex Libris for use with Voyager.
