    Question

Steps to modify the due date at time of charge or for an item already charged to a patron's account.

    Answer

If you need to modify the due date for an item at the time of charge:

    1. Library staff are logged into the Voyager Circulation client.
    2. Verify the patron's identity following your library's policies.
    3. Click the Charge button; this will open the Charge screen.
    4. Enter the patron barcode, or click the ellipse button (...) to search for the patron by name, institution ID, or Voyager patron ID.
    5. Basic patron information will then populate the Charge screen. Double-check the appropriate patron record was retrieved.
    6. Enter the item barcode, or click the ellipse button (...) to search for the item by title, OCLC number, call number, keyword, etc.
    7. After the charge is complete, note that the item's charge data displays at the bottom of the charge screen.
    8. Right click on the item in the list of charged items and choose "Modify Due Date..."
    9. The Modify Due Date window will open. Type the new due date/time, or click the ellipse button (...) to select the date from the calendar.
    10. Click OK to apply the new due date/time.

If you need to modify the due date for an item already charged to a patron's account:

    • Library staff may use the "Renew" button within the Charged Items Index.
      • If the patron is eligible to renew the item, the due date will be advanced based on the permissions in SysAdmin.
      • If the patron is not eligible to renew the item, library staff may be prompted to grant override permissions, during which they can select the new due date.
    • Library staff may open the Charge screen, and re-charge the item to the same patron.
      • Discharging the item before re-charging is not required; Voyager will treat subsequent charges of an item already-charged to the same patron as a renewal.
        • Library staff may be prompted to grant override permissions if the item has reached a renewal limit using this method.
      • Follow the directions above for modifying the due date at time of charge.
