    Cloud Apps

    This session will show how Cloud Apps can add new features beyond core Ex Libris functionality, integrate with other systems, and provide shortcuts and efficiencies for institution-specific workflows.  


    First, we will give an overview of Cloud Apps, then, via a live demo, we will look at both recently created Cloud Apps and Cloud Apps that have existed for several years.

    Creating and Managing Analytics Objects in the New Alma User Interface

    This session will present the major upgrade to how analytics reports are made available within Alma. We will include a live demonstration in creating analytics objects for report “consumers” beyond the library as well as for those who use Alma.

    Document Delivery: Patron Digitization Requests Setup and Workflow

    Patron digitization requests allow both staff as well as patrons to request a digital copy of all or part of a physical resource.  These requests may be staff-initiated or patron-initiated.


    This session will cover the configuration of Patron Digitization Requests and show live workflows of its use.

    Digital features in Alma

    This session will cover several recently added features related to the management of digital resources in Alma:
    ·         Copyright watermarks for image files
    ·         Preventing the download of digital files in the discovery interface
    ·         Closed captions and subtitles for video files
    ·         Adding a non-obtrusive and obtrusive copyright to a digital image

    New and Improved Alma Overlap Analysis Tool

    This session will cover how to use Alma’s Overlap Analysis Tool to easily compare electronic collections. Those analyses can then be used to find savings through de-duplication, and assist purchasing new collections without duplicating current titles. We'll also demonstrate the new features that allow you to compare electronic resources with physical resources.

    Community Zone and Central Discovery Index: Two Systems with One Goal

    Because the CZ and CDI contain related and complementary content but are used in different ways, this session will explore the different types of content in the CZ and the CDI, how the content is related, and how library staff and patrons interact with that information daily.

    This session will show how Discovery Interface Display Logic options allow you to configure the discovery options for Primo VE including:
    ·         Hiding fulfillment services from user groups
    ·         Enabling related record services

    ·         Configuring the order of locations in search results

    This session will focus on how Alma, Primo, and CDI operate with each other, how availability is determined, and what you can do to control availability. We will also demonstrate the CDI Analysis Tool, and we will review some common issues and how to troubleshoot them.

    Creating custom search scopes and making them available in Primo VE

    This session will cover how search scopes allow for grouping of records that meet specific conditions. We will create custom search scopes, assign them to institutional search profiles, and add them to a view’s search profile slot to be presented in Primo VE.

    Basic Normalization Rules Workshop (2 hours)

    This workshop will cover an overview demonstration of the structure and syntax of an NR and a normalization set. We’ll learn how to read the default normalization of OOTB Display fields, and how to modify them. For local fields that can be used for Display / Search / Facets – the configuration process (of both methods) will be reviewed and described.

    Target audience: Primo VE administrators with access to Alma with the Discovery Admin role.

    Advanced Normalization Rules Workshop (2.5 hours)

    During this advanced workwhop we’ll demonstrate the use of simple transformation commands and regex manipulation as well as tips and suggested approaches when addressing an NR challenge will be offered. There will be a sub-session of hands-on. A variety of challenges will be provided for participants to choose from. Solutions to all challenges will be handed out after the session.


    Target audience: Primo VE administrators with access to Alma with the Discovery Admin role.
