Intota: Resource Status versus visibility in Various Services

    • Product: Intota

How does the Status of a resource affect the visibility of that resource in the various ProQuest discovery services?

The Status of a resource affects the visibility of the resource in ProQuest services, but in different ways depending on the service.

The explanations below make several references to Status in relation to the resource's Discovery settings, such as the Discovery settings we see in this Database Details page for a library that subscribes to discovery products 360 Core (E-Journal Portal), 360 Link and Summon:
    Discovery settings
    • 360 Core/E-Journal Portal: A resource will display in the E-Journal Portal if:
      • The Status of the resource is set to anything but Not Tracked.
      • The Discovery setting for 360 Core is ON.
      • The database is selected on the Database List page within the E-Journal Portal Administration Console.
        • If you want titles within the database to be discoverable in E-Journal Portal search results, but you do not want the search page to display a link to the database, do not select the database on the Database List page in the admin console.
        • If you want the E-Journal Portal search page to display a link to the database, but you do not want titles within the database to be discoverable in E-Journal Portal search results, set the Discovery setting for 360 Core to OFF.
  • Overlap Analysis: Only those resources with a status of Subscribed will appear by default in an Overlap Analysis report. For instance, if a library inherits a shared resource from a consortium, the resource will have a status of From Consortium and it will not appear by default in an Overlap Analysis report. You can, however, change the default settings so that databases with other statuses are included by default.
  • 360 Search, 360 Link, 360 MARC Updates (for an individual library), or MARC-Group (for a consortial group): A resource will appear in these 360 Suite services unless one of two things is true:
    • The status of the resource is Not Tracked; or
    • The Discovery ON/OFF settings on the Database Details or Holding Details page are unchecked for one or more services.
  • Summon: Summon will grant user rights to a resource if it has a status other than Not Tracked and the Discovery setting on the Database Details or Holding Details page is set to ON for Summon. For more information, see Subscription Rights in Summon.
  • Holdings numbers in the Resource Summary section of your Intota home page are calculated regardless of the Discovery ON/OFF settings for that resource or title.
  • This means that even when a resource has a status of, for example, Under Review, it will still appear in search results of the E-Journal Portal, 360 Link, etc., unless you select OFF for the service's Discovery setting.
