    My library uses 360 Link with Index-Enhanced Direct Linking (IEDL), How can an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) custom link be set up?

    You can set up a custom link for users to submit Interlibrary Loan (ILL) requests without the user having to enter the citation information. See below for the situation that applies to your library, type A, B, or C.

    Note that the document containing information about the custom link setup page in the administration console is here: 360 Link: Administration Console -- Custom Links: Create and Maintain.
    • The below information is primarily for providing helpful URL syntax to those libraries using common Interlibrary Loan services (library type 'C' below).

    Type A. Your library does not use an ILL service from a vendor, but you have an ILL web form

    This is the one situation where we are limited in providing documentation assistance. If your ILL web form does support auto-population of fields, it is certainly possible for 360 Link to send citation metadata and auto-populate the form. The appropriate custom link URL to be entered into the 360 Link administration console will be based on the HTML parameters used in your form, and therefore creating the custom link URL may require knowledge that only resides with your IT staff. Help is also available from our technical support staff that can be reached by using the Contact Us menu at the top of the Support Center.
     

    Type B. Your library does provide ILL service but you do not have an ILL web form

    360 Link offers offers a web form you can use. More information is in the Display ILL Form section of the Link Activation and Configuration page in the administration console.
     

    Type C. Your library uses an ILL service from a vendor

    Below are a number of ILL services. If your ILL service is listed below, you can use the linking syntax provided by replacing [YourILLBaseURL] with your ILL base URL, and pasting the URL into the URL field in the administration console.
    • Note that for a few vendors, other portions of the URL are in Red and need to be replaced with your library information.


    If your ILL vendor is not listed below, please contact the vendor to request a complete query string if their ILL form does support auto-population. Please also send us the information so we can make the URL syntax available to other libraries.

    We recommend testing the custom link to make sure it works as expected, prior to providing the link to your users. Information about previewing your changes is available in the Previewing Your Changes section of 360 Link: Administration Console -- Custom Links: Create and Maintain.

    To create a link you'll need to get an email address where all ILL requests will be sent. You will also need the Customer ID for the cid tag near the end of the link.

    What would a Customer ID look like? A high percentage of EBSCO customers have a Customer ID that looks like this: s3915641 It is the lower case letter 's' followed by a seven-digit number. A smaller percentage of their customers have an ID that is an abbreviation (of sorts) of their institution name. Finally, there are a small number of accounts that have an ID that does not conform to either of these "templates".
