If you are working with Primo VE and not Primo, pipes are no longer needed since Alma and Primo VE are on the same platform. Most changes in Alma appear very quickly in Primo VE without having to run a job. In some cases, you may need to run a job yourself or open a ticket to have Support re-index your data. In addition, Primo VE provides out-of-the-box normalization for your data. For more details about normalization and its customization, see the following sections:

    • Primo VE Normalization Suite Overview - June 2019.pdf

    • Mapping to the Display, Facets, and Search Sections in the Primo VE Record

    • Managing Display and Local Fields for Primo VE

    • Configuring Normalization Rules for Display and Local Fields

    • Loading Records from External Sources into Primo VE

The Pipes Configuration wizard lets you define the pipe settings used by your system for harvesting and normalizing the data. Before defining a pipe, you must define the pipe's data source, harvesting method, normalization rules set, and enrichment set. In addition, it is possible to define scopes and mapping tables as needed. Although the Pipes wizard is used during both initial and ongoing configurations, you can only manage the Normalization mapping tables during ongoing configuration. Refer to the following sections to configure pipes:
    • Parallel Processing of Pipes
    • Accessing the Pipe Configuration Wizard
    • Configuring Data Sources
    • Managing Scope Values
    • Using Normalization Mapping Tables
    • Using Normalization Rules Sets
    • Using Enrichment Sets
