How to edit, change or modify the Due Date Slip and other slips, printouts and receipts in Circulation.

    • Product: Voyager
    • Product Version: All
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description

How can I edit, change, or modify the due date slip (or other slips and reports that print directly from the Circulation Client) that is printed when an item is charged in Circulation?

    Resolution

The DUE DATE SLIP as well as the DISCHARGE SLIP, HOLD SLIP, ROUTING SLIP, FINE/FEE PAYMENT RECEIPT, FINE/FEE STATEMENT, PATRON CHARGED ITEMS, PATRON REQUESTS, PATRON CALL SLIPS, CIRCULATION HISTORY, RESERVE PICK LIST, MARC RECORD, SHORT LOAN INFO, SHORT LOAN SEARCH, and ITEM DISTRIBUTION slips are edited in the Circ.ini from the C:\Voyager\Circulation directory of a staff PC.

    Additional Information

If you modify this file, make sure you copy it to a different location before reinstalling the client or before a Voyager client upgrade as it will be overwritten by the installation process.  See: Which files should I preserve when installing new clients?

Consider the slips you will print to your receipt printer. The same modifications should be made in each stanza of the .INI file for each slip to print correctly.

While all receipt printers are different, the following are examples of receipt printer Circ.ini files for specific font sizes (for reference only):

As a rule of thumb, and as shown in the examples above, all font sizes need to be reduced (a typical setting is 8pt), TextLeftMargin needs to be reduced (typical setting is 1), PageMargins need to be reduced (typical setting is 0).

Note that some fonts read clearer in small sizes (for example, sans serif fonts like Tahoma).

Remember that any modifications you make to the .INI file that help you print to a receipt printer will still be in effect should you print to a regular printer (unless you change the .INI file).
